About the film

This feature documentary aims to ignite a social movement by covering one of the largest digital detox experiments ever conducted. The film provides solutions, based on research, that can be customized to each person to create a healthier, more sustainable relationship with technology.

600+ people of all ages, backgrounds, and goals will be recruited to test the effectiveness of different digital detox interventions at UC Berkeley, measuring impact on brain health, cognitive performance, focus, happiness, social connection, and more.

The team filmed interviews across the country, from San Francisco to New York City, with leading researchers, technologists, advocates, and families. The film is grounded in published research that you can read in full.
